Saving lives is at the heart of everything the Rescue Society does. It has been that way ever since the first two rescue vessels were launched in 1893.
No one should drown
125 years later, we are proud to have saved over 6,400 lives, and to teach 30,000 children and young people seafaring skills every year. But we are not there yet. More than 100 people drown in Norway every year. Worldwide, just under 400,000 people drown each year.
